Role Overview

We are on a journey to become a leader in data-driven insurance. As pioneers in automated cyber insurance, data is at the core of our business strategy. To accelerate this vision, we are building a single, enterprise-grade data platform that enables the collection, sharing, and usage of data across the organization and with multiple user communities.

Initially, this platform will support Master Data Management (MDM) requirements and will evolve into a central capability for leveraging data across the business. To support this initiative, we are seeking an Azure Data Architect who will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and governing this platform.

This position offers the opportunity to influence the organization’s data strategy, engage directly with senior stakeholders, and drive innovation in the insurance sector. The role combines hands-on development with strategic thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with diverse stakeholder groups to gather requirements and design data pipelines across platform layers.
• Ensure the technical infrastructure is robust, scalable, and fit for purpose to support enterprise-level data initiatives.
• Define and implement standards, frameworks, and patterns to maintain high-quality and consistent development practices.
• Identify and design new features and capabilities to advance the company’s data-driven vision in the insurance industry.
• Provide governance, consultation, and best practices to platform users and business stakeholders.
• Drive both hands-on development and strategic decision-making to maximize the value of data.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across technical and non-technical functions.
• Proven ability to work in a collaborative culture, engaging regularly with technical teams and business users.
• Willingness to learn and experiment, with the ability to prototype innovative solutions.
• Capacity to influence strategic data usage, shaping both technical adoption and cultural change.

Knowledge and Experience:

• 7+ years overall professional experience, with at least 3+ years in Data Engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing Azure data and analytics capabilities (including Synapse Analytics).
• Advanced SQL expertise, with strong knowledge of SQL Server and Azure SQL.
• Proficiency in Python and ideally Spark.
• Experience in data analysis, cleaning, migration, and modeling.
• Track record of working effectively in Agile environments.

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
