Medical Officers - University Hospital KDU Ratmalana

Job Description 

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Hospital calls applications from qualified persons / individuals for the following posts: 

• Medical Officer - Grade I
• Medical Officer - Grade II
• Medical Officer – Preliminary Grade

Qualifications:

• Preliminary Grade: No explicit experience requirement beyond SLMC registration.

• Grade II: Requires a minimum of two (02) years of experience as a Medical Officer in institutions coming under the Ministry of Health or Hospitals registered with the Private Health Services Regulatory Council.

• Grade I: Demands a minimum of six (06) years of experience as a Grade II Medical Officer in the specified institutions, in addition to a recognized post graduate qualification mentioned in Appendix II of the Gazette (Extraordinary) No:1883/17 dated 11.10.2014.

Age Limits:

Shall not be less than 25 years and not more than 45 years.

Salary Scales:

• Medical Officer Grade I: Placed on "MO 1-1 Step 14 - Rs.137,480.00 + Other approved allowances.

• Medical Officer Grade II: Placed on "MO 1-1 Step 5 - Rs.111,540.00 + Other approved allowances.

• Medical Officer Preliminary Grade: Placed on "MO 1-1 Step 2 - Rs.104,090.00 + Other approved allowances.

General Conditions:

• Citizenship: Applicants Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Fitness: Should have adequate physical and mental fitness to discharge the duties of the post well.

• Moral Character: Should be of excellent moral character.

• Application Deadline & Completion: The applicants should have completed all requisite qualifications by the closing date of applications." Duly completed applications with certified copies must be submitted via registered post by "18.08.2025."

• Probationary Period: Posts are permanent. A three-year probationary period applies to "Medical Officer Preliminary Grade and other posts that are not from the special grades," while "Medical Officer Grade I, Medical Officer Grade II and other special grade posts" have a one-year probationary period if the officer has prior public service experience in those grades.

• Provident Funds: The university contributes 15% to EPF and 3% to ETF, while the employee contributes 10% to EPF.

• Application Submission: Applications must be sent to the "Executive Director, University Hospital, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Werahera" with the "post applied for" indicated on the envelope's top left corner.

• Shortlisting and Rejection: The hospital "reserves the right to shortlist prospective applicants," and "Incomplete or late applications and those that do not comply with the prescribed format will be rejected.
