Duties & Responsibilities: 

• New construction, renovations, extensions to existing buildings, interior furniture, exterior landscaping etc. 
• Preparation of Designs and BOQ, Cost Estimates for above and calling tenders. 
• Tender Evaluation and recommending the contract to the Head of Building Engineering Services to obtain tender approval. 
• Construction supervision and progress monitoring to ensure the quality of Work and standards as well as work targets are achieved. 
• Taking measurements of completed work and recommending payments. 
• Assisting Regional Managers to maintain upkeep of premises.  
• Attending to the following tasks in major construction and renovation projects:

• Checking Tender documents/ Engineer’s estimates prepared by Project Consultants. 
• Checking Tender Evaluation Reports. 
• Assisting with Technical Evaluation and procurement committees. 
• Monitoring Construction Progress. 
• Checking Progress Bills. 

• Any other official Duties and responsibilities entrusted by the Bank which is within the capability and / or expertise of the employee to perform. n
• Adhere to rules and regulations imposed by the Bank from time to time. 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a university or a degree-awarding institute recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka. 

Should possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Designing and Construction related to building projects, including the following:

• Knowledge of Civil Engineering Specifications, Conditions of Contracts, Standard method of Measurements, Civil Engineering Designs, and Interior works. 
• Project planning and progress monitoring methods. 
• Sound knowledge of computer software packages, including Drafting and Project Management, and Procurement procedures. 
• Knowledge of procurement of works and consultancy services.

Method of Selection: 

Shortlisted applicants based on the stipulated qualifications and experience will be called for an interview. The appointment will be made on a contract basis. 

Conditions of Employment:

The position of Civil Engineer in the non-banking stream is equivalent to the grade of Manager (3-I) in the main-banking stream in the Bank. The performance will be evaluated annually. The selected candidate should work beyond the regular working hours as and when required, and should be willing to visit outstation construction sites to inspect and monitor the progress of the projects.

Remuneration: 

An attractive and negotiable remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered to the selected candidate for the above position.

Age preferably below 45 years as of the closing date of applications.
