EXECUTIVE SEWING TECHNICIAN

Embark on a journey of change with MAS Kreeda Campus - Biyagama by joining as an Executive - Sewing Technician. This role would enable you to oversee the operation of the allocated sewing lines at the Product Development Centre and identify the most suitable methods for sample construction along with relevant persons, whilst guiding and motivating the sewing machine operators to ensure samples are sewn and delivered to the customer in a timely and accurate manner as per customer standards/requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

-Attend the style briefing meeting, receive the patterns, sketches and other relevant documents from the pattern maker, and discuss with relevant persons such as the Industrial Engineering team, mechanic, pattern maker etc. the best and most feasible method of construction thereby promoting FTT

-Teach sewing machine operators the construction details and supervise the sewing process, identify priorities, balance resources to deliver samples, follow up and address related issues whilst performing the following:

-Checking the suitability and skills of sewing machine operators when allocating them to new styles

-Following up to ensure all styles in the lines are being sewn correctly within the required timelines to meet delivery and customer requirements

-Follow up on Salesman Sample styles, and allocate required operators to ensure timely delivery

-Oversee the activities of the allocated sewing machine operators (SMOs), and perform activities such as the following to ensure the SMOs are motivated and samples are sewn promptly to meet customer requirements:

-Check SMO attendance to ensure the required number of SMOs are available to complete the samples

-Guide/ assist in the resolution of any issues/ grievances (personal/ official) to motivate SMOs to perform their day-to-day operations

-Develop operators, and train them on difficult operations to upgrade their skills to facilitate their career progression

-Attend to the ‘Fit approval samples’ and make necessary amendments/ revisions to the construction of samples to ensure high quality of the sample

-Construct patterns based on patterns given by the pattern maker, to facilitate sewing machine operators to understand the construction details of the styles

-Oversee the MOS functions within the team, ensure that appropriate organisational standards are maintained and improved as per specification, conduct weekly audits and identify improvement areas, thereby preparing the team for MOS assessments

-effectively perform the following duties thereby ensuring a smooth process for Compliance and Health & Safety activities/ processes in the team:

-Support department specific H&S KPIs focusing achievement of H & S goals and objectives of the SBU

-Promote kaizens and problem-solving exercises to enhance the safety performance of the SBU

-Support the Health & Safety/ Compliance Point Person by leading the health and safety process in the team

-Provide adequate resources & support for H&S to enhance the safety performance and create a culture/ environment for the same

-Obtain the daily Leave plan and take necessary action to balance the line with available resources thereby ensuring that absenteeism is balanced, and targets are duly met

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

-completed A/L’s in any stream/ Diploma in pattern making/Apparel Technology

-3-5 years relevant experience (e.g. as a supervisor at the production floor/ability to make a sample Sewing experience)

-Knowledge of methods/ account requirements

-Knowledge of patterns/SMV/MOS
