We are looking for an experienced and tenacious individual to drive our go-to-market efforts of Daraz’s new fintech venture, Koko in Sri Lanka. Koko is a Buy Now Pay Later payment platform incubated under Daraz and was founded in Sri Lanka in 2020. We are passionate about evolving the merchant and consumer shopping experience by providing our customers with an easy, interest-free payment plan. Koko will be completely free for customers who pay on time – helping people spend responsibly without incurring interest, fees, or extended debt. Koko empowers customers to access the things they want and need, while still allowing them to maintain financial wellness and control, by splitting payments in three, for both online and in-store purchases. To support our ambitious growth plans, we’re looking for smart, collaborative, and passionate people who are looking to make a genuine impact in Sri Lanka’s financial and retail ecosystem.

 

Job Role

-Oversee and manage daily financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reports.
-Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and monthly management accounts.
-Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
-Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
-Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial planning to optimize resource utilization.
-Liaise with internal and external auditors, as well as relevant financial regulatory bodies.
-Lead and manage business finance projects, including cost-saving initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements to align with strategic objectives.
-Review and enhance internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
-Supervise, mentor, and develop the finance team to foster performance improvement and skill growth.


Job requirements

-Completion of a professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or ICASL.
-Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
-A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance. Previous experience in an audit firm and/or the financial services industry is an advantage.
-Demonstrated the ability to work in an early-stage startup would be preferable 
-Strong understanding of accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations.
-Proficiency in MS Office (particularly MS Excel), Google Applications, and accounting software.
-Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
-Strong communication, leadership, and team management abilities.
-Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
-Ambitious, detail-oriented, and results-driven with a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude and a readiness to learn and take on challenges.
