Deputy General Manager (Insurance) – National Insurance Trust Fund Colombo 02

National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF) Board which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development is a fully government owned entity responsible for implementation of schemes such as Agrahara Medical Insurance, Motor Insurance and the sole reinsurer accepting Compulsory Reinsurance Session from the private insurers in insurance industry at the forefront with an enviable record innovation, growth and profitability achieved during its existence of over 18 years. 

NITF seeks to recruit a dynamic and self-motivated individual to be appointed for the following position as well as to serve as the specified officer at the National Insurance Trust Fund as per the regulations issued by the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.

Qualifications:

External Candidates:

• Educational Qualification: A degree in Insurance & Risk Management, Business Administration, Business Management in Insurance, Commerce, Finance, Marketing or any other degree relevant to the subject area of the post which is recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.

• Professional Qualification: Associate membership of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) in Chartered Insurance Institute UK.

• Experience: Minimum of 18 years’ experience at a “Managerial Level” out of which 05 years of experience should be at Senior Managerial Level with a proven track record in a Corporation, Statutory Board/ Institution or a reputed private institution.

Internal Candidates:

Internal candidates have two pathways to eligibility

1. Meeting the same qualifications as external candidates.

2. Completion of minimum three (03) years satisfactory service in a post in the Senior Manager Category (HM 1-3) in the subject area relevant to the post.

And

In addition to this, internal candidates must also possess the "Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) in Chartered Insurance Institute UK."

General Requirements for All Applicants:

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

• Fitness: Must be physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties of the post well and to serve in any part of the island.

• Character: Must be of excellent moral character.

Age: 

Should not be less than 35 years and not more than 55 years.

The upper age limit will not apply to the internal candidates.

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary Scale: HM 2-1 -2025 - Rs.[161,140 - 12 x 4,850 – 219,340].

• Specific breakdown: Rs.119,494.00 as at 01/01/2025, Rs.140,317.00 as at 01/01/2026 and Rs.161,140.00 as at 01/01/2027 as per the DMS Circular 01/2025.

Nature of Appointment:

The appointment is Permanent with entitlement to Employees` Provident Fund and Employees’ Trust Fund.
