JOB PURPOSE

Assistant Make Manager – Soaps will be responsible to manage and drive soaps tank farm operation and the soap manufacturing process. You will work closely with General Shift Manger - Soaps and Shift Managers at Soap Plant on receiving weekly production plans aligning to capacities and resources in manufacturing and driving the delivery OTIF. You will also closely work with Manufacturing Manager and the Plant Team on driving innovation, managing costs, saving energy cost, and taking corrective actions for manufacturing losses in the soap manufacturing operations.

You will report to the Manufacturing Manager – Soaps.

What Will Your Main Responsibilities Be
 

  • Lead and drive the tank farm, soap manufacturing and soaps packing team on implementation of operational strategies for improvement of key performance indicators under PQCDSM (Product Quality Cost Delivery Safety Morale) monitor progress daily and take corrective actions for further improvement.
  • Lead and drive the implementation of safety standards in tank farm operation and soap manufacturing process and ensure behavioral safety protocols in line with Unilever safety standards.
  • Lead and drive for implementation of quality standards in the tank farm and soap manufacturing plant in line with Unilever guidelines and local legislations. drive action plans for corrective improvements, monitoring the progress of actions and necessary regular progress update.
  • Drive AM (Autonomous Maintenance) pillar in the tank farm and manufacturing, specially by driving the circle teams to reach the set targets.
  • Responsible for continuous improvements in terms of energy, presenting weekly energy update to the factory FLT (Factory Leadership Team) with the status of actions.
  • Conduct all oil blends related trials and soap base and noodle related trials with the support of the factory leadership team.
  • Work closely with shift engineering team to ensure all the safety, health & environment activities are in place and comply with the standards.
  • Lead the blue-collar team and contractual team to achieve required tonnage of soap noodles in two categories of laundry soaps and Skin cleansing.
  • Actively participate to conduct weekly/monthly PSVs and responsible to maintain the Raw Material / Packing Material wastage within the limits, and keeping the required documents.
  • Monitor site legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local/national regulatory requirements and Unilever standards.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever Manufacturing System Program.
  • Regular visits of third party raw material suppliers and ensure that they are comply with the Unilever agreements of supplying materials.
  • Manage tank farm overhead budget and identifying saving opportunities to reduce plant overhead costs and responsible for uploading savings projects as per schedule.
  • Manage cost per tonne in soap manufacturing through deep cost analysis and controls.
  • Monitor plant energy trends, weekly presentations to the FLT with action plan progress.
  • Ensure all controls are in place with relevant documents and systems to comply with Unilever controls in the tank farm.
  • Technical solutions to be given on time in full in planned maintenance, especially in tanks, pumps, and for the daily downtimes in the process.
  • Knowledge in process safety and behavioral safety of workmen.
  • Drive key plant digital projects in terms of buildup, and other digital tools towards digital factory agenda.
  • Work closely with the third party supplier and maintain sufficient stocks by coordinating procurement team.
     

What You Need To Succeed

Experiences & Qualifications

Candidate Should
 

  • Be a graduate in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Possess comprehensive understanding on manufacturing procedures & practices.
  • Have up to 1-2 years of experience in Supply Chain background, prior experience in FMCG manufacturing will be an added advantage.
  • Be strong assertive leader with the ability to collaborate with multiple internal & external stakeholders.
  • Possess good analytical thinking & problem-solving skills.
