Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Limited is a fully government-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security. Established under the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation Act No. 33 of 1970, it began operations on January 5, 1970. In 1992, it was converted into a Public Limited Liability Company under the name Lanka General Trading Company Limited, later renamed STC General Trading Company Limited in 2002, and finally to its current name in 2010. With over 50 years of experience serving both public and private sectors, the corporation remains entirely state-owned, with all shares held by the Secretary to the Treasury.
