Sri Lanka Survey Department

The Sri Lanka Survey Department (SLSD) is the national agency responsible for surveying and mapping activities in Sri Lanka, as well as for establishing the national cadastral system. Established in 1800, it's the oldest unchanged government department in the country. The department's functions include land surveying, mapping, remote sensing, GPS, and GIS. They also maintain a national land information system (LIS) and manage geodetic control networks.
