The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Research (MoSTR) of Sri Lanka is responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs for science, technology, and research. The ministry also provides resources to research institutions and shares the results of research with the public and business community.

The Ministry plays a significant role in contributing to National Development goals specially by being able to guide Public Research Institutes to engage in demand driven research, research commercialization, promoting inventions and innovations, facilitating standards.
