QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR EMPLOYER AT THE INTERVIEW

Published on July 21, 2025 04:07 PM

In a job interview, both the employer and employee are entitled to ask questions. By asking questions and getting answers, both the employer and you can understand whether the prospect is suitable for you and the company. Usually, at the end of the job interview, the interviewer asks, “Do you have any questions for me?” That is your cue to ask questions and clarify anything that is unclear regarding the job and related tasks.

Prepare the questions before the interview

When you are researching about the company, you have applied for a position, and you have to prepare the questions at the same time. Because you gain information about the company and about the prospective job through the company website, social media and job advertisement, respectively. We strongly advise you to prepare a set of questions beforehand.

Questions you can ask your future employer

  1. According to you, who is the ideal candidate for this position? And how do I fare compared to that?
  2. Who worked in this position before, and why is she/he leaving the company?
  3. What are the positive things about this company, in your opinion?
  4. What does my position in the company entail on a daily basis?
  5. Can you tell me the type of culture prevailing in the company?
  6. What are the most important things I have to accomplish during the first 90 days at my job?
  7. Who will be supervising my work? And how often will he/she evaluate my performance?
  8. What is the most challenging thing about this position?
  9. What kind of growth will I have at the company?
  10. What does the company value the most?
  11. Is there anything else that I should share with you?

Importance of asking questions at the interview

By asking questions of your employer, you show that you are engaged in the interview. You also get to know information about the company that you did not gather in your research. This also helps you determine your suitability for the position you have applied for. Not only that, you can think about how the job could help you grow as an employee and achieve your career goals.

Remember that you cannot ask questions that were already answered by the employer during the interview. Doing so will make you come across as inattentive, lousy, or less enthusiastic about the position.
