Assistant Manager - Material Development (Biyagama)

Being in the business for over 17 years, MAS Active is a prestigious establishment in Sri Lanka focusing on Activewear, Athleisure, Performance wear and Men’s essentials. Through this role, you will be responsible to source raw material at cost competitive prices which are within the agreed quality and lead time and identify different supplier competencies and evaluating the same whilst providing seasonal trend collections and innovative fabric presentations in order to facilitate new business & promoting MAS vertical supply chain.


Key Accountabilities:

-Coordinate with Divisional Manager (Material & Innovation) to develop a strong supply chain management strategy through which raw materials are sourced aligning with the customer time lines, at the most competitive prices and required quality standards and lead times to ensure on time delivery to customers
-Contribute to the on-going and special development projects to bring value to the Sourcing Division through innovation whilst working closely with the Director sourcing & innovation
-Identify specific competencies and capabilities of different suppliers and fabric mills whilst monitoring same in order to place right customer products with the most suitable mills
-Monitor new suppliers and evaluate their machinery, lab and the product mix to ensure the mills can deliver the products in a timely manner which are of the right quality
-Provide innovation sourcing and supply chain seasonal trend collections to the Business Director and conduct customer presentations in order to obtain new business
-Facilitate the business teams when quoting cost and lead times for new products and styles within specified timelines in order to obtain the most profitable businesses
-Conduct pre- production meetings with suppliers, plants and business teams whilst coordinating with the Manager -Material (Quality) to ensure all risks have been highlighted and necessary action taken before commencing production
-Monitor the new fabric development process, guiding the material developers to ensure adherence to customer standards and requirements within specific timelines and competitive prices to achieve cost benefits, ensuring fabric and lab dip developments take place according to the customer development calendar, and that all developments are routed through the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system.


Knowledge and Skills:

-Textile related degree (Engineering preferred)
-Diploma in Textile & Clothing
-3 to 4 years of relevant work experience
-4 +years in the Apparel Industry
-3 +years working in the Seamless industry
-Yarn and Fabric deep technical knowledge
-Good communication and coordination skill
