Job Profile

The Donor Communications Lead of World Vision Lanka will matrix-manage comms staff of the grant projects and will be required to work closely with them and the communication focal points of the other departments mentioned above to ensure the production of timely, high-quality visibility and communications material that position WVL as a partner of choice for child well-being and protection.

Major Responsibilities
 

  • Develop and deliver on an Annual IRDM/Corporate Partnerships/HNI/NRD Communications strategy and a business plan which supports the respective departments’ objectives in alignment with World Vision’s commitment to ‘Our Promise’, working closely with relevant focal points of each department.
  • Provide creative input to content produced by the comms focal points, review and approve all visibility material related to the Project/initiative and ensure alignment to brand guidelines of WV and stakeholder/donor while monitoring regularly for continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic input during grants/NRD proposal development to ensure communication resources are planned into the grant-life cycle and are adequately funded or budgeted.
  • Liaise with field teams to produce high-quality, multi-purpose creative content that builds donor trust and WVL reputation.
  • Ensure all content are requested and pitched through Content Flow and uploaded to StoryHub on time while meeting professional standards
  • Provide and receive clear communications related to messaging and critical information to and from the donor/institution during a crisis.
  • Champion and facilitate skills development of the focal points of the projects/initiative to improve brand awareness and alignment, as well as functional performance and excellence.
     

Required Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
 

  • At least 4 progressive years of experience in the field of communication.
  • Experience in donor related communications in the humanitarian field is an added advantage.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in media studies, journalism, mass Communication, English, or related field.
  • Excellent skills and knowledge in creative storytelling (writing, concept development)
  • Good skills and knowledge in donor communications (capacity statements, factsheets, etc.)
  • Travel to the field is required
  • Excellent oral and written (English) communications skills and proficiency in local languages (Sinhala/ Tamil)
