Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global data protection strategy and framework in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Monitor and assess the organization's data processing activities to ensure compliance with data protection requirements and identify any risks or non-compliance issues.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) to identify and mitigate potential privacy risks associated with new projects, initiatives, or changes to existing processes.
- Advise and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on data protection matters, including data processing agreements, consent mechanisms, data subject rights, and data breach management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed privacy and data protection principles into business processes, systems, and practices.
- Develop and deliver data protection training and awareness programs to raise employees' understanding and compliance with data protection policies and procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for individuals exercising their rights under data protection laws, such as data subject access requests and complaints.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to monitor compliance with data protection policies and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay updated on developments in data protection laws, regulations, and industry best practices, and proactively advise the organization on any necessary changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
- A bachelor's degree in law, information technology, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications in data protection and privacy would be an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations especially in the UK, EU, USA and Australia
- Proven experience in developing and implementing data protection strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Strong understanding of data processing principles, data subject rights, and privacy-by-design principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Analytical mindset and attention to detail to assess risks and ensure compliance.
- Experience in conducting privacy impact assessments, data breach management, and handling data subject requests.
- Familiarity with IT systems and technologies, as well as data protection implications related to cloud computing, mobile applications, and data analytics.
