Public Service Commission of the Western Province has been established in year 1989.In terms of the provisions of section IV of the Provincial Council Act No 42 of 1987 which is connected to the functions of the provincial council established as per 13th Amendment to the Constitution, the powers exercised by Hon Governor with regard to the appointment, transfers, dismissal from service, and disciplinary control of the officers in provincial public service have been vested in the Provincial Public Service Commission.
